Mark Wahlberg leaves karate lessons to the professionals after getting chopped by his son

Mark Wahlberg is clearly a brave man - despite being karate chopped by his son Michael, he continues to take the four-year-old to lessons.

Young Michael has already shown great potential to be a karate champion after the incident in which he managed to knock out his father.

And doting dad Wahlberg is making sure his son has every opportunity to reach that potential - even if it means being used as a practice prop!

The karate-chopping incident happened when Wahlberg took little Michael to see new movie The Karate Kid, starring Will Smith's son Jaden Smith.

Apparently young Michael was so impressed by the skills Jaden displayed in the film, it inspired him to practice some moves on his dad as they drove home.

'And it sounds like Wahlberg had no suspicion his son was such a natural at the martial art - he was left winded by the surprise attack for over ten minutes.'

'Mark bowled right over. He said the pain was excruciating. It took a full ten minutes for the sting to go away. He had to feel his ribs to make sure nothing was cracked,' says a source from the National Enquirer.

Michael even looked the part of a karate champ in his traditional karate uniform, while Wahlberg paid homage to his own Boston roots by wearing a Boston Celtics t-shirt.

The father and son duo also stopped at a toy shop to buy some toys for young Michael, who is clearly enjoying the one-on-one time with his dad.

Wahlberg has four children with wife of nine years Rhea Durham: Ella Rae, six, four-year-old Michael, Brendan Joseph, 20 months and five-month-old Grace Margaret.
