Murs is aiming for a breakthrough in North America. He is the opening act for One Direction headlining 2012 North American tour. His first U.S. single, "Heart Skips a Beat" (featuring Rizzle Kicks), will be released in the U.S. sometime in the summer of 2012.Murs' first U.S. album is expected to be "In Case You Didn't Know," which is actually his second U.K. album. His self-titled first U.K. album was released in 2010. "In Case You Didn't Know" was released in the U.K. in November 2011. The U.S. release date is to be announced.

Murs and One Direction have the same management company (Modest Management) and the same U.S. record label (Syco Music/Columbia Records).

Because of the tour with One Direction, Murs (who co-hosts "The Xtra Factor" with Caroline Flack) will not be able to attend "The X Factor" U.K. auditions in 2012. However, he will join Flack in co-hosting "The Xtra Factor" when "The X Factor" U.K. live episodes for 2012 begin in October.

In other news about Murs, he performed at the MTV Presents Titanic Sounds concert on April 13, 2012, at the Titanic Belfast in Northern Ireland. Pixie Lott, Rizzle Kicks and Sean Paul also performed at the concert, which MTV U.K. will premiere on May 5, 2012.
