Skrillex: 'I don't care if people hate me'!

The dubstep star also says he turned down the chance to collaborate with Foo Fighters and Deadmau5. Dubstep DJ Skrillex has said that he doesn't care if people hate him.

The electronic artist – real name Sonny Moore – has spoken to Pitchfork to say that he 'gets it' when it comes to people slagging him off.

He said: I don't care if people hate me. I mean, I get it. When you were young, you were like, 'The Backstreet Boys are gay!'

He continued: "And kids are on computers now. I'll post something on Facebook, and then, within two seconds, there are comments: "Fuck you dude... you suck... pussy... bitch... faggot... you ruined dubstep... emo." But if you look at their profiles, they're so young."

In the interview Skrillex also explained how he turned down the chance to perform with Foo Fighters and Deadmau5 at the Grammy Awards ceremony last month in Los Angeles. "They actually asked us to be on that as well," said Moore. "And, all due respect to all those artists, but that's not what I do. I don't play on TV. My performances are different because you're captivated more by everything around you rather than just staring at something... It's not something you can capture on the Grammys."

Moore spoke about his post-hardcore band, From First to Last and revealed that he left the band after they got a major label deal "because it wasn't the music I wanted to do. I was just making electronic music for fun after that."

He added that he never wanted to be in spotlight: "So it's funny to see that happen again now. I don't want to be that. I'm just making music and hanging out with my friends and, if we're gonna do a show, we can make it special and bring robots out or something. It's a platform to do crazy, fun shit."

Skrillex recently revealed that he started dating Ellie Goulding after they sparked up an internet romance. He told Rolling Stone that their relationship had blossomed after he sent her an unsolicited email.
