The actor was snapped with a surfboard in hand as he went to catch some waves on Malibu beach yesterday.
Duchovny, 49, took the opportunity to get his surf on as he and wife Tea Leoni enjoyed a family day out on the beach.

They were joined by some friends as they soaked up the sun, had a picnic, watched the children make sandcastles and enjoyed a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Tea and Duchovny have been married for 13 years and are stronger than ever since their marriage famously hit the rocks in 2008 when Duchovny sought treatment for sex addiction.
And they will be making the most of their summer together before Duchovny prepares to tread the boards for the first time.

The former X Files star is to make his stage debut in te off-Broadway production of Neil LaBute's The Break of Noon.
He will play John Smith in the seventh play by LaBute, whose last play, 'Reasons to be Pretty was nominated for the Tony Award for best play.
Duchovny, will start The Break of Noon, which is set amid an office shooting, at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on October 28.
